Broiled "Burned" Broccoli

Hello all!  Looking for a great healthy side dish?

Or want to expand your vegetable consumption!?  Need those kids to eat healthier?  Check out this great side dish!  It is kid approved!!!

So everyone knows Broccoli is one of the most difficult vegetables to get your kids, and even some adults to eat.  However it is one of the best ones for you, there are so many good vitamins, minerals and other aspects the vegetable does.  This post would be to long, so in short it really is a super food!  Even Chef will be the first to admit he don't eat enough of them his wife will tell you this too.  He  knows the importance of vegetables and tries to cook them in a way he feels you will enjoy.  Below is a great idea chef  came across at a friends house and loved it ever since!  He even had had kids try and like it!

So how does one put something like "broccoli" and "burned" together to make something good to eat!  Honestly we have no idea, maybe two negatives equal a positive?  We will admit it is odd but I never know till I tried this new side dish how much I would love it!  We think the crunch along with the seasonings cooked in with the oil just makes them easy and tasteful to eat.

We actually broil it.  Yes we cook them at a high temperature with some seas onions and oil and give it a  good char.  The nice crunch and bit of char taste makes them easier I would say for me that is to eat and enjoy!  There are many ways to cook broccoli however this one always works for us and I hope you enjoy it to!

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 20 Minutes
Total Time: 25 Minutes

Ingredients:
1 Head of Broccoli
1.5 Ounces Olive Oil
1 Table Spoon Garlic Powder
1 Table Spoon Salt
1 Table Spoon Pepper

Directions:
Set your oven to broil
Take your broccoli and trim them down cutting them to smaller pieces.
Place them in a large bowl.
Drizzle olive oil over them.  Just a bit you don't have to soak them!
Lightly season them with salt, pepper and anything else you would like.
Place on a cooking sheet.
Place in the oven and watch carefully for about 20-25 minutes.
When you take them out they will look burned, that is good!  They will have some crisp and texture to them.  You can also cook them shorter or longer.  This is all up to you.

Here is the end result.

We also do other vegetables like cauliflower this way too.  We found it really works and even our chef loves them and will have seconds and thirds!  This side dish is also so easy and you can just have it cooking while your main dish is being worked or cooking too.  The dish won't take up to much of your time.  You can also prep the broccoli early in the day to so your are fully ready if you are having a party. Check out the video to see how Chef makes it!

We do hope you liked the video and do try this great side dish!  We do know that some of our vegetable dishes have lower views unfortunately.  However eating healthy can having great taste can happen!  If you liked this post and video please share it but more importantly, make it!  We really think you will enjoy it and use it more often in your regular meal rotation!

Give it a try, your kids might like it and surprise you.

Always remember, cooking should be Fun, so have Fun doing it!

Crock-Pot Mac & Cheese

Happy New Year Everyone!  We hope everyone had a great night and celebrated the New Year safely!  To start off the New Year we wanted to give everyone an easy dish they can serve up during this cold time of year!  Mac and Cheese is a very popular dish and there are many ideas and different post and video's but we wanted to give you ours.  We do have others we want to give you but this one is our low and slow recipe.

Serves:  6-8

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 1-2 Hours
Total Time: 2+ Hours

Ingredients:
1 lb of dry macaroni, we used Elbow
1 Stick of butter
4 Cups, shredded cheddar cheese. Divided 3 cups and 1 cup
2 Eggs
1 (20 3/4 oz) Can of cheddar cheese soup
1 (12 oz) Can evaporated milk
1 Cup of milk
Pinch of Paprika
Pinch of Salt
2 Table spoons oil

Directions:
Heat up water with a pinch of salt.
Once boiling add pasta in.
Add 2 Table Spoons of Oil
Let cook for a few minutes, you want the pasta to be al dente.  Soft on the outside, hard on the inside.
Drain and place the pasta in your slow cooker
Add one stick of butter, cut up into pieces so it melts faster.
In a larger bowl add 3 cups of cheddar cheese.
Add the 2 Eggs.
Add 1 Can of cheddar cheese soup.
Add 1 Can of evaporated milk.
Add 1 cup regular milk.
Mix up.
Add the mixture over the pasta and stir in well.
Place the lid on and set to low.
Let cook for 1 hour and check.
After 1 hour, stir the mac and cheese and see how it is.
*If you are satisfied, you can finish and serve or let cook another 1/2 hour-hour.
Once you feel the pasta is done add 1 cup of cheddar cheese and mix in.
*If you feel the pasta is a bit dry add 1-2 table spoons of milk and mix in.

Place pasta in a bowl and sprinkle a touch more of cheddar cheese on top.
Sprinkle a bit of paprika over top

If you need a bit a time, you can crack the lid and keep the crackpot on warm.
Serve and enjoy!

As you can see from the picture it really is a nice looking meal!  This meal doesn't take to long to make so you do have to check the crackpot every so often.  After 1 hour you can decide to let it go longer for a thicker mix or keep it creamy.  To thicken the dish up, let it cook longer.  Add milk to make it creamy.  Remember the dish is not ruined!  There are things you can do if you over or under cook it.  We do hope you watch the video below we think you really will enjoy it.

Well for our first dish of the 2017 year we hope you enjoyed it!  This meal is really easy to make and we do hope you try it out.  With winter here a good easy warm meal is perfect for staying inside and warm!  We again hope you enjoyed this video and subscribe to our channel.  Check out any other blog recipes and videos we have done and feel free to ask questions or leave comments!

Have a healthy and safe New Year!

Pull Apart Pizza Bread

Hello All!

It is yet time yet again for another post and video!  This is our last video of the 2016 year and we wanted to end on a blast!  This appetizer is so easy to make and makes a great New Year's dish!  Why not bring a new style of bread to the table!  Everyone loves Pizza so make this dish and try something new! The best part is this only takes a few ingredients and only takes a few minutes to make!

Serves 6-8

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 12-15 Minutes
Total Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients:
1 loaf of uncut bread.  We used Garlic Tuscan.  Italian, sourdough or others will work!
1 Package of Pepperoni
1 Cup of shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 Cup of shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 Cup of Parmesan cheese
1 Stick of butter
1 Table Spoon Garlic powder
1 Table Spoon of Italian Seasoning.  Which is just  Basil, Parsley, Oregano, Thyme.
1 Jar of Red Sauce

Directions:
Cut the bread, making slices almost all the way down to the bottom.  Slices should be equal to a thick piece of toast.
Once you are done, turn the loaf and do the other side.  The bread will look like it has squares now.
Place the Pepperoni in the slits.
Place the Mozzarella cheese in after.
Then add the Sharp Cheddar Cheese.
Finally add the Parmesan cheese.
Melt the butter and add all the seasons to the butter.
With a brush, glaze the top and sides of the bread.  Coat well.
Heat the over to 350-375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the bread in and let cook between 12-15 Minutes, or until the cheese is melted and hot.
Remove and glaze once more with the butter mixture.
Add sauce to a bowl, heat up if you like and place next to the bread.
Serve hot!

This app is really cool because you can pick the squares of bread off and dunk it the sauce.  It is just like a piece of pizza, well just a bit different.  We think you will enjoy this because it has a great taste and your party will see it as a new and different idea!  The picture makes it look very delicious as well.  The bread comes out golden brown and when you add one more layer of glaze it makes it that much more amazing!
