Slow Cooked Ribs

Hello all!
Looking for some Ribs but don't want to be outside all day in the cold?  This low and slow meal will make you coming back for more.  Maybe even cooking them in the summer!  Your friends and family will think you slaved all day for this dish but with steps you can look like  real pit master!

These fall of the bone ribs were done with two different sauces after they slow cooked for about 6 hours on low!  Many people think ribs can be very difficult to make or that you need the oven however slow cookers can really cook almost anything!  You can also set this up and then get some things done in the house or if you have to leave for a few hours!  With the winter months still in full swing this is a great idea for a nice weekend meal where you can enjoy with family and friends!

So you know we made 2 sets of ribs, one rub with with the one below, the other rack we used store bough rib rub to try.

Serves: 4 people per rack

Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Cook Time: 6 Hours
Total Time: 6 hours 10 Minutes

The ingredients are for 1 Rack of Ribs.  Double if you want 2 or do two different kinds of rubs!

Ingredients:
1 Pack of  Pork Ribs (1 rack per 4 people)
AP Rub- 4-5 Table Spoons per side

Rib Rub: Feel free to use this or your own!
3 Tablespoons of Paprika
1 Tablespoon Smoked Paprika
1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
1 Tablespoon Ground Mustard
1 Pinch Salt
1 Pinch Allspice
1 Pinch Cayenne Pepper

Honey Garlic Sauce:
1 1/2 cups Honey
3/4 Cups Reduced-Sodium Soy Sauce
3/4 Cup Ketchup
3-4 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
1 Pinch of Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

Sesame Seeds for garnish

Honey BBQ Sauce:
1/2 Cup Honey
1 Cups BBQ Sauce

Instructions:
*I didn't trim the ribs or take the membrane off.  This is up to you.
Take your AP Rub (Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder) Sprinkle each side of your ribs.
Let sit as you make your rub now.
For the rub:
Mix all the rub ingredients together. See above.
Sprinkle on each side of your ribs as well as the ends and sides.
Cut the ribs in half.
Place them in the slow cooker, meat side facing the walls and the rib bones down.  (The bone side you can feel)
Turn to Low and let cook for about 6 hours.
*Every Slow cooker is different!  If yours runs hot, check it sooner.  Ours does.

20 Minutes before you pull the Ribs make your glaze mix!

Honey Garlic Glaze:
In a pan mix all the ingredients together see above.
Bring this to a boil for a few minutes.
Reduce to a simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
Let sit for about 3 minutes so it can thicken.

Honey BBQ Glaze:
In a bowl mix 1/2 cup honey with 1 cup BBQ Sauce.
Do NOT heat this up.

Turn your oven to Broil.
Take your ribs out and place them on a tin foiled cooking sheet meat side down.
Glace your ribs with either sauce you use!  Or if your doing 2 racks, you can do one set of each.
Place in the oven for 4 minutes.  If you have 2 sets of ribs, rotate them after 2 minutes so they each get time under the heat!
Take them out and flip them over, so the meat side is up.
Glaze again, and place in the over for 4 minutes.
Again if you are doing 2 racks make sure you rotate so they each get time.

*If you are doing one rack of ribs only, monitor them close per every oven is different and the broil setting can burn your ribs!

This is not a hard dish but if you have any questions leave us a comment or reach out to us!

Here is what both looked like, they really came out amazing, each had a different but great flavor!

We do hope everyone does try this if they like Ribs.  It is easy and they really had a wonderful taste!  We do hope you watch the video per sometime the instructions can look difficult this meal is not.  Below is the video and checkout how easy it is!

We do hope you enjoyed this video and post!  We had so much fun making this dish.  Most of the team was involved and we all just joked around and even had some camera fun.  When we cook as a group we have the most fun and that is what cooking is all about.  Getting together and just celebrating one's company.  We do hope you continue to cook and learn as you go.

Baked Dolloped Sweet Potatoes

Hello all!

We hope this finds you well!  Today we wanted to share a sweet but healthy dish!  This side dish is so easy to make and has a great healthy aspect to it!  Baked Sweet Potatoes, with a nice sweet dollop on top.  Sweet potatoes are generally so full of flavor but if you just add a touch of flavor to the top you can make them look really nice and add a kick of flavor in case you don't exactly love them.

One of the reasons we love Sweet Potatoes so much is because they are a natural product of our planet, packed with vitamins and minerals, and digest in our system very easily.   Now the big question is, Yams vs Sweet Potatoes!  Well you can read on the difference till you are blue in the face however they both carry different unique differences.  They both have very healthy facts about them and being able to tell isn't to hard.  However this post isn't to just educate you on the difference.  If you wanted a post on that let me know!

I can advise we eat more sweet potatoes here however yams are very healthy for you as well.  The Sweet Potato does have a deeper orange color and your local vendor should have them marked correctly.  However you should also be able to tell with the taste if you eat one over the other.

Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 1 hr or more (depending on potato size)
Total Time 1 hour 30 Minutes for us.

Ingredients:
4 Sweet Potatoes
3 Ounces of cream cheese (softened)
1 Tablespoon butter (softened)
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 Pinch of cinnamon

Directions:
Wash, scrub and then dry your sweet potatoes.
With a fork or knife poke hols in the potatoes.
Set your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the potatoes on a sheet pan and cook.
Let cook between 1 hour up to 1 hour 25 minutes.  Pending on the size.
While cooking, make the topping.
In a medium bowl, place the cream cheese, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
With a fork mix well then use a whisk if needed.  You want it to be creamy.
When the potatoes are done remove and test with a knife.  It should slide in easy and come out clean.
Use the knife to cut the middle and spread the sides apart.
Let cook a bit and use the fork to fluff the potato.
Place a dollop of the topping over the potato.
Repeat and then serve hot!

Here they are!

We do hope you enjoy the video below.  This meal really has a wonderful taste to it and sweet potatoes are so healthy for us!  They have lots of vitamins and minerals as well as they digest very easily in our bodies.

Thank you again for joining us today, if you wanted more info on sweet potatoes you can ask us or do a bit of searching.  There is so much information on the internet.  I know there maybe some Yam fans out there so if you want me to cook some of those just ask!    Again thank you for stopping by and checking out our site!
